About Us

Our Misson

Edgewood Center Pediatrics supports preventative care through education and regular well-child care. As specialists in pediatric and adolescent medicine, we are dedicated to offering the most comprehensive level of care for your child.

Meet Dr. Gendelman

Dr. Brian Gendelman, M.D. graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 1987. He completed his residency in pediatrics at William Beaumont Hospital and was the Chief Resident of Pediatrics from 1989 to 1990. Dr. Gendelman is board-certified in pediatrics and founded Edgewood Center Pediatrics in 1990. In addition, he served as chief of pediatrics at Huron Valley Hospital.

Dr. Gendelman has enjoyed caring for the children and families living in Commerce Township and the surrounding area for over three decades. His commitment to teaching the next generation of physicians, nurse practitioners, and physicians assistants has helped Edgewood Center Pediatrics to constantly strive to deliver excellent and practical pediatric care while practicing the most up-to-date evidence based medicine. He enjoys building relationships between children, families, and other healthcare providers while delivering high quality pediatric care.

Dr. Gendelman enjoys golfing and making breakfast for his family.

Meet Dr. Baver

Dr. Beth Baver, M.D. is a Wayne State University School of Medicine graduate. She completed her pediatric residency in 1991 at William Beaumont Hospital. She is also board-certified in Pediatrics and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Baver has been practicing at Edgewood for over 30 years, giving her the privilege of caring for many families across generations. She enjoys working with patients and their families to improve their physical and mental health, emphasizing the importance of good nutrition and physical activity to achieve that goal.

In Dr. Baver’s free time she likes to be active outdoors and spend time with her family.

Meet Dr. Turner

Dr. Lisa Turner, MD, graduated from Jefferson Medical College of Thomas Jefferson University in 1989. She completed her residency at the Children’s Medical Center of Dayton/Wright-Patterson USAF Medical Center in 1992. Dr. Turner is board-certified in pediatrics and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Turner loves being a part of her patients’ lives as they grow and supporting parents through all the ages and stages of development. As a registered yoga teacher, she works with the mind-body connection while encouraging healthy lifestyle choices. She has some short yoga videos available through this website.

Dr. Turner enjoys ice skating, hockey, and spending time with her family.

Meet Dr. Deb

Dr. Deb graduated from Wayne State University School of Medicine in 2018. She completed her residency in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in 2021 and is board-certified in pediatrics.

Dr. Deb loves making the pediatric visit a fun and personalized experience by utilizing a child-centered, engaging approach to healthcare. She especially enjoys focusing on preventative medicine with natural approaches to diet, exercise, and mental health.

In her free time, Dr. Deb enjoys horseback riding, hiking, and being outdoors.

Meet Dr. Bauer

Dr. Zach Bauer, D.O., graduated from Michigan State College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2019. He completed his residency in pediatrics at the Children’s Hospital of Michigan in 2022 and received his board certification.

Dr. Bauer has always had a passion for working with the pediatric population. He loves connecting with families and strives to make visiting the pediatrician an enjoyable and stress-free experience.

In his free time, Dr. Bauer enjoys playing with his Australian Shepherd named Kona, spending time with friends and family, staying active, and golfing.

Michelle Philp, P.A.-C, I.B.L.C., R.L.C.

Physician Assistant/Lactation Consultant

Michelle Philp, P.A.-C, I.B.L.C., R.L.C is a board-certified physician assistant and lactation consultant. She graduated with a Master of Science from the University of Detroit Mercy in August of 2001 and received her board certification in October of 2001.

Michelle enjoys the relationships she has built with patients and their families throughout the years. She also loves to guide new mothers through the intricacies of lactation as well as supporting the mental health of the youth through the COPE program.

Michelle enjoys walking, cooking, exercising, and being outdoors.

Melissa Zerwas, P.A.-C

Physician Assistant

Melissa Zerwas, P.A.-C is a board-certified physician assistant. She graduated with her Master of Science degree from Western Michigan University in August of 2011 and received her board certification just a month later.

Melissa has loved caring for Edgewood families and patients over the years. She strives to create a family-like, accepting, and compassionate atmosphere while caring for pediatric patients. She is passionate about educating and empowering patients and their families and has special interests in allergy and asthma, rheumatological diseases, disease prevention, and mental health. With her background in emergency medicine, she also brings procedural skills and care to our office.

Melissa enjoys spending time with her family, hiking and kayaking.

Amanda Leach, CPNP-PC

Pediatric Nurse Practitioner

Amanda Leach, CPNP-PC is a board-certified pediatric nurse practitioner specializing in primary care. She graduated from Wayne State University with a Master of Science in Nursing in August of 2015 and received her board certification two months later.

Amanda has a background in neonatology and while she enjoys providing care to infants, she is passionate about caring for all pediatric patients. She aims to empower parents to be able to manage their child’s overall health and well being. She loves learning about functional medicine and nutrition and strives to incorporate a holistic approach in her everyday practice.

Amanda enjoys spending time with her family and running.

Jessica Kahn, P.A.-C

Physician Assistant

Jessica Kahn, P.A.-C is a board-certified physician assistant. She graduated with a Master of Physician Assistant Studies from Butler University in May 2023 and received board certification in June 2023.

Jessica is our newest member of the Edgewood team! She’s excited to develop connections with kids and parents alike. Creating long lasting relationships is important to her and she strives to make each visit feel comfortable and safe.

Jess likes to go to yoga and also enjoys camping and hiking.
